Create a Group and see rankings for it

A Group is a set of players and a date range. Any match between two players in the Group, played inside those dates, is added automatically, and the Group shows who stands where. It’s the spreadsheet you no longer keep.

Steps

1. Go to Groups and tap +.
2. Give the Group a name.
3. Choose which results count toward its rankings: Singles, Doubles, and Practices. Turn on any combination.
4. Set the start and end dates. A season, a term, a summer.
5. Add the players. On a personal account these can be basic players; in an Organization they’re members.
6. Save. The Group appears with its player count and results, and standings begin with the first qualifying match.

What you get

• Standings by win/loss and by ELO, updated after every logged result.
• Automatic membership of matches. You never assign a match to a Group; if both players are in it, the date fits, and it’s a result type the Group counts, it’s in.
• Practices as their own view. With Practices on, practice results rank players inside the Group too, and never affect anyone’s ELO.

Good to know

• Pro. Creating Groups needs Pro on a personal account. Inside an Organization, Pro is included.
• Groups vs ladders. A Group ranks players; it doesn’t set rules for who plays whom. To run challenges and points, an Organization can run a Group as a ladder (Leap Frog or Accrual). Ladders are Organization-only.
• A player can be in several Groups. Their matches count in every Group they share with the opponent.
• Coaches: a Group per squad or age band is the quickest way to see current form when picking practice groups or lineups.
