Add the essentials to your profile

A few details make your profile useful to you and to the people you play. Everything here is optional, and you can change it any time.

Open your profile

Open the menu, choose My Profile, and tap the pencil to edit. Editing has three steps: Bio, Ratings, and Gear. The essentials are in the first two.

Bio: how you play

  • Plays: Right-Handed or Left-Handed.
  • Backhand: One-Handed or Two-Handed.

While you’re on the Bio step you can also add your gender, birthday, height, nationality, home court, and a short About. The Public switch controls whether your tennis profile is shared with the world.

Ratings: add them if you know them

If you have a rating from somewhere else, add it on the Ratings step:

  • Rating Name, Rating Range, and Rating: for example NTRP, 1.0 to 7.0, and 4.5.
  • UTR: for example 10.5.
  • ITF World Tennis Number (WTN).
  • Links to your ITF, UTR, and ITF WTN profiles, if you like.

Don’t know your rating? Skip this step. You don’t need one to start.

Your ELO is calculated for you

Smashpoint calculates your ELO rating from the matches you play. Everyone starts at 1500, and it updates after every completed match.

Your profile shows all your ratings side by side. On the Ratings tab, your ELO comes first, with your tier and your Hard, Clay, and Grass ratings, followed by the ratings you entered.

Good to know

  • Ratings you enter are for reference. They’re shown as you typed them. Your ELO comes only from the matches you play, so it’s never changed by a rating you add.
  • Gear is optional. The third step is for your racquet, strings, shoes, bag, and grip.
