For Players: Track your own matches

You play tennis and want to know where you stand: a real rating, your record against the people you play most, and how your matches were actually won or lost. Smashpoint does all of that from your own results. You don’t need a tracker on the fence or detailed shot statistics to get started; a final score is enough.

You’ll need a Smashpoint account (free to create) and the app on your iPhone or Android phone. Every new personal account starts with a 7-day trial of all features. When it ends, your account switches to View mode: everything you logged stays visible and you can still add players and courts, but entering new match or practice results needs Pro. If you’re a member of a club, school, or academy that runs on Smashpoint, ask them to add you to their Organization: Pro is included for members who play.

Steps

Step 1: Add the people you play

Go to Players and add your regular opponents and doubles partners by name. They don’t need accounts. If they’re already on Smashpoint, connect with them instead so the match shows up for both of you.

Step 2: Log a result after the match

The simplest way to use Smashpoint is to enter the score when you walk off court. Tap New Match, pick your opponent and the format, and choose to enter the result. Type the set scores and save.

That’s all it takes. Every logged result feeds your ELO rating and your head-to-head record against that opponent. You’ll get more detail from live tracking, but nothing about ratings or records depends on it.

Step 3: Score a match live from your Apple Watch

When you want the match itself on record, not just the score, track it from your wrist while you play. Install the Smashpoint watch app, add the complication to your watch face, and tap it to start a match. Score each point with a tap between points; the watch keeps the score, the serve, and the set for you.

The match syncs to your phone and shows up in the same place as anything you logged by hand. You’ll see it point by point in History, with momentum and pressure stats built from the points you scored.

Live tracking from the watch is built for the person on court. If someone is watching your match from the fence, they track it from their phone instead, and if you’re connected the match appears for you too.

Step 4: Check your rating and your records

Under Insights you’ll find your ELO rating and its history over time, plus a head-to-head record against every opponent you’ve played. Your ELO moves with every completed match, whether you logged a score or tracked it live. Practice matches are excluded, so a hit with a friend never costs you rating points.

Step 5: Get the full picture when someone tracks for you

When a parent, coach, or friend tracks your match point by point or shot by shot, you get the whole Match Profile: point endings, wing balance, Aggression Ratio, and Clutch Delta, plus any video replays they recorded at set points, match points, and break points. You can watch those on your iPhone, iPad, Android device, Apple TV, or in the browser with the web app. Connect with the people who track your matches so their tracking lands in your account automatically.

Step 6: Join your club’s Organization

If your club, school, or academy runs on Smashpoint, ask to be added as a Member. You get Pro at no cost, your matches count toward the club’s ladders, tournaments, and rankings, and results entered by a coach or by you land in the same place.
